Wayne Rooney The Superstar

Are you a football supporter? Do you support England? Are you looking forward to the football World Cup? These are three questions which I would have answered a big yes to and I am very happy to lea that Wayne Rooney looks likely to be fit to play some part in the Fifa World Cup touament. He could prove to be the man that helps bring glory to our proud footballing nation.

The hype around the foot injury of Wayne Rooney has been absolutely massive and has been possibly way over the top. I would have much preferred more focus to have been placed on some of our other better players such as David Beckham, Steven Gerrard, Joe Cole and Michael Owen. In saying that, in a way it could have been a blessing in disguise as the players mentioned and the other members of the squad, have had quite a lot of the attention taken away from them.

I remember first watching Wayne Rooney play live, when I went to support my favourite team Birmingham City play at St Andrews. Wayne at that point was probably only seventeen and was playing for Everton. I had heard that he was supposed to be a great talent and had watched him play on the television on a number of occasions.

Throughout the match he looked very lively and dangerous but ended up getting himself sent off, after an over the top challenge on the Birmingham goalkeeper. I will never forget the Birmingham City fans singing to torment the Everton supporters with, where's your Wayne gone, where's your Wayne gone? Imagine it being sang etc.

Over the next few months Rooney became better and better and eventually was sold in a dream move for him, to Manchester United. He has continued his form and improvement and has since been a major part of the England football team. In my opinion, he is one of, if not the best, footballers in the world.

Chelsea, who of course seem to have a never ending supply of money, would no doubt love to sign Rooney. I wonder how much it would cost them to persuade Alex Ferguson and Manchester United to part with their prize asset. They say every man has a price, I would think that they would need around the one hundred million pounds mark, quite a scary thought.

Wayne is still so young and I hope he can remain injury free as it is going to be very exciting to see how good he can become. He is already a superstar but I believe he could be one of the best players who has ever played the game.

QB Steve McNair Allowed To Use Titan Facility For Training Arbitrator Rules

In an arbitrator ruling on Wednesday, the Tennessee Titans, lost a battle with Quarterback Steve McNair. The Tennessee quarterback was banned from using the Titan training facility during the off-season, for personal training. The arbitrator ruled that as long as the quarterback still is under contract with the Titans, they couldnt ban him from the premises.

This was a case that ran for more than seven hours between the Titans and the NFL players Union, where the arbitrator John Feerick, ruled that the Titans breeched McNairs contract. The Unions case was that the Titans either release McNair, from his current contract or allow him to use the facility.

Although this may have been somewhat of a victory for the star quarterback, and the NFL players association in a whole it is upsetting that it has to go to these lengths. The reason that the Titans did not want McNair training at the facility in the first place, was due to fear of liability against the $23.46 million dollar salary cap smack, should McNair be injured on the grounds.

There have been no talks to lower the payment or buyout costs, and all of this basically comes down to some quirky Tennessee state laws. This goes without saying that the Titans in anyway violated the collective bargaining agreement.

The Titans did issue a statement, that they do welcome McNair back to the facility for the off-season programs, albeit the fact that McNair is still seeking compensation for missed workout time.

While the Titans are not scheduled for an on field workout session until June 13th, McNair is allowed to workout in the training facility while waiting. McNair is slated to ea $9 million dollars for the upcoming season with the Titans.

Who are the Agents and the Company Behind the Transfer of Theo Walcott

Theo is on the books of Key Sports Management, and is looked after by Colin Gordon the man who said "Football clubs and chairmen know who in the game is corrupt, so why do they still use them? I would question the motives of a large number of managers, chief executives and chairmen in the game".

In a week when sports management companies and player agents come under the spotlight after a statement issued by Mike Newell the manager of Luton town football club, we ask what is involved in a deal involving the transfer a 16 year old kid to a top premiership club?

Most regular fans who tu up week in week out to watch football in the uk don't like to dwell to long on what they describe as "those vile leeches" that are behind the move of top players preferring to base there support and loyalty on the game of old played during the 70,s and 80,s.

The position of Southampton football club

Saints are in a coer when it comes to keeping Theo their hand being forced to sell by the footballers agent and management company, Those agents are rumored to have issued an ultimatum to Rupert Lowe, either agree a deal with Arsenal, or Walcott will exercise a release clause in his scholarship contract, meaning he will become a free agent and Saints will only get compensation from a tribunal this is expected to be around 500,000 with a follow on payment of 500,000 after a certain number of games.

The alteative is to sell, with Arsenal the front runners to bag the wonder kid after making an offer of 10 million.

Chelsea are believed to be keeping a close eye on developments with there chairman Roman Abramovich rumored to be ready to step in with an offer of 15 million.

So who could get what out of the Theo Walcott deal?

Taking the transfer of Wayne Rooney who moved from Everton to Manchester united for roughly 25 million during August 2004 as an example:

When Rooney joined United it was reported that Manchester United paid Rooney's agent an extra fee - "an incentive" - to ensure they got their man.

United paid Proactive Sports Management a sum of 1.5m as recorded in the shareholders statement "Fees payable to Proactive Sports Management Limited in relation to both the acquisition of the player and negotiation of his personal terms", the amount was 2 x Rooney's first year wage.

With such payments being made to player's agent's maybe it is up to the humble fan to speak out?

Just think where that extra 20% on the price of your season ticket next season maybe going.

As for Theo Walcott's management company as well as the signing on money paid to Key Sports Management and there agent Colin Gordon they will also receive payment for arranging deals for image rights ect, Theo already has a boot deal with Nike gained while he was 14 but you can be sure of more deals and transfer requests to follow as his management company try to do "what is in the players best interest".
