College Football Notebook 11 10
College Football Notebook 11 10 I have always believed that the number zero is a very defining! In the world of sport, as in real estate, it's all about "location, location and location!" A zero in the right hand column of the loss of livestock is a very good position, one in the left column is not so good! As a college football enters its stretch run, no one remotely associated with the game is well aware that USC, Texas and Alabama (listed in order of ranking of the team BCS), remain the only unbeaten teams in the nation. However, there are some other teams with a zero in the column on the right, when it comes to conference in Virginia standings.West Big East, easily took care of Cincinnati on Wednesday night, going 5-0 for the championship. The climbers were on November 24 game against Pittsburgh (in Morgantown) and December 3 in southe Florida. The Mountaineers had the title of Grand Orient in scope, but last year lost 36-17 at home to Boston College and Pittsburgh (16-13) to finish the year. This year, the team shows no signs of an implosion, but never knowsTCU has already achieved the title of CTM, in his first year in the league. The Hoed Frogs easily dispatched the last Saturday of the State of Colorado (33-6), clinching the school on the first conference title since winning the SWC crown in 1958. At 7-0 in the MWC, the Hoed Frogs (29-point favorites!) Only need to win at UNLV on Saturday, Fort Worth, to finish at 10-1 overall and 8-0 in league play. Ironically, the team has only lost in 2005 against a former SWC rival, PMI. Only a week after opening the season winning 17-10 in front of Norman Sooners (like most of the four-TD Underdogs), TCU lost 21-10 to SMEs, a team that is only 3-6 years. At least a college football conference unbeatens remaining seven lost this weekend. Boise State and Fresno State in the WAC (both 5-0), meet Thursday night on ESPN. Boise State entered the WAC in 2001, and in this first year, completed 17 of the Fresno-game home winning streak with a 35-30 victory in the 16-point underdog. After losing in the technology by the end of this year, has started a conference Boise strip winner who has reached 31 games! During this period, the Broncos are an impressive 21-10 ATS.Despite that Boise has long strip winning conference and beat Fresno in four meetings since the accession of the conference (for an average gain of 41 -21 and coming 4 -0 ATS), the Bulldogs were solid favorites (more than one TD) in the game Thursday. Fresno State is not slouch, as the Bulldogs are 38-5 SU at home since 1998 and now in its confrontation with the Broncos at 7-1 (only loss to Oregon 8-1, 37-34) and ranked at number 20 Dow Jones (BCS ranking is now 22). The winner of Thursday's clash is likely to win the rest of the way in conference play, but is not "blocking". Boise is just a game at home against Idaho, but it must play in Tech (7-1 SU at home since 2004). As for Fresno, after the trip to USC December 19 for a non-conference game, the Bulldogs go to Reno, Nevada, where he has gone 9-2 SU and ATS in their last 11 home games. Fresno finishes the season with a game against the nation home.Getting Tech in the top three teams, USC faces a school that has more problems in recent years. USC is a 31-game winning streak into its game Saturday at Cal and a 14-game road winning streak and a 21-game Pac-10 winning strip. Cal was the last team that beat USC 34-31 in triple-OT in 2003. Cal almost beat the Trojans last year in Los Angeles 23. Lose to 17 in 2003, losing 30-28. Add to the mix a little 'game, a national of a tie Cal win the Pac-10 record winning strip of 22 straight set from 1947-50. USC is an 18 1/2-point favorite and ended the year with home games against Fresno State and UCLA (Trojans have won 25 straight at the Coliseum). Texas, the nation of Group 2, goes straight for his 17th victory in Austin this Saturday against Kansas. Meanwhile, in Texas and USC have won by margins similar games, Texas outscored its opponents 48,3-14,3 USC outscoring their opponents by an average of 49,9-20,6 with ETA and 8-1, while the Trojans are the 4th - 5th! Texas is a 33-point favorite in Kansas and ends its regular season with a visit to College Station, where and face the Aggie disappointing. The likely opponent in the Texas Big-12 game is the title of Colorado, a team and have the rhythm in Austin 42-17, again in October 15.While some think Texas or USC stumble in the stretch, the nation n Team . 3, Alabama, (but only 3-6 ATS) is a home 'dog' (E-3) on Saturday at No. 5 LSU. Since the loss of WR Tyrone Protho, the tide had just scored a TD in its last three SEC games. However, in Alabama, owns the nation's No. 1 rating in the category of defense (8.2 PPG) and should not be counted in any game. If Alabama runs against LSU, the Tide play at Aubu "Iron Bowl" December 19 at Aubu. Alabama SEC title game likely opponent (if the computer that long ago) is Georgia or Aubu Florida. The SEC was 12-0 last year, but left out of BCS title game seems likely to end Alabama 12 - 0 in 2005 and then left. USC increased its lead over Texas in the final BCS ranking, and Texas lead over Alabama is IMPORTANT! BCS history says that both teams ranked first and second in the first survey of the season (this year 's was USC and Texas), have never been to this years meet in the BCS title game. However, USC and Texas have already made history in 2005 BCS, the same two teams have never been one or two in each of the first four seasons and BCS rankings. Maybe USC and Texas meet in Pasadena? Adorable LOSERSI can not close without the list of winless teams, those with a zero in the wrong place! Temple is 0-10 (4-6 ATS) in 2005, but the week before closing out its season December 19 in the Navy. State of New Mexico 0-9 (2-7 ATS) and is the seat of Nevada, where the Aggie are 9 1/2-point Underdogs. Buffalo, also 0-9 (5-4 ATS) is at Kent State and the Bulls may actually have a chance. Not only are they 1-8 Golden Flashes in 2005, but for a TD. Note: Buffalo is also the nation longest current losing strip with 22 straight losses.Rice (0-8 SU and 1-7 ATS) in 2005 and the owners of the nation longest current losing strip in 14 years, Homecoming, plays the his game this week against Tulane 2-6. The Owls are one of favorites! Could it be? In every way, including Buffalo, New Mexico State and Rice (Temple is playing this year as an independent), there are still 13 schools that are still winless in conference play entering this weekend action.Larry Ness is a member of Professional Handicappers League documented.
