Here is a brief history of this popular football team.As one of the original members of the AFL, the Chargers played their first year in Los Angeles before moving permanently to San Diego. They reached the AFC West at the AFL-NFL merger in 1970. San Diego is a football game in Qualcomm Stadium. The team is looking for a new stadium built to replace the aging Qualcomm Stadium.Barron Hilton, who was also the founder of the Hilton Hotel, originally owned the team. In 1982 game against the Miami Dolphins, the team raced to 24-0 lead, only to lose the 3rd quarter. San Diego recovered and eventually won the game in 41 hours-38.It was not until 1995 that the San Diego Chargers broke the Super Bowl. It was up to now their only Super Bowl appearance. The team won the AFC West and went to upset the Miami Dolphins and Pittsburgh Steelers to win a place in the championship game. Unfortunately had to deal with the 49ers and Steve Young in San Francisco, 49-game losing season 26.Since Chargers have had their share of problems, with only 2 winning seasons and a playoff berth, arriving in 2004.
