The legend retires
The legend retires The man who designed the construction of larger projects in the history of the school football is retiring. Saturday, Bill Snyder, the man who took Kansas State from oblivion to the elite of college football crash the laptop and coached his last game at home against Missouri. Consider this my ode to one of the greatest coaches in the history of 'football.Snyder universities? S based on the results of the State of Kansas are near epic. He came to Kansas in 1989 from the University of Iowa, at this point, the Wild had lost 27 consecutive games and were dubbed by Sports Illustrated as? Worst program in the United States?. Snyder quickly everything has changed. In? 89 which broke the band to lose, but still limped to a 1-10 record with their only victory coming in a last-second TD pass against North Texas. We proceeded to go 5-6 in 1990, 7-4 in 1991 (not the bowl game), and back to 5-6 in 1992. Then came the bowls. In 1993, Snyder has made a 9-2-1 record and a Copper Bowl berth, their first bowl game since 1982 (not at random is the only bowl game in Kansas State history to a team not Snyder). Copper Bowl was the first in a series of 11 consecutive bowl games including two Fiesta Bowls. The strip ended in 2004, when the wild was reduced to 4-7 record. In all, Bill Snyder led Kansas State to 135 victories in his 17 years as coach. Nobody in the history of football K-State is even close to winning it all. The Wild won 11 games 6 times in the Snyder era, a surprising result for a team that had only 10 winning seasons before his arrival. In 1998, the State of Kansas has been the number one team in the nation only half seconds away in the Big XII Championship collapse against Texas A & M, less than an impressive team effort for the Tennessee National title. In 2003, Snyder led the Wild to their first conference championship since 1934. Snyder is a 3-time national coach of the year (1991, 1994 and 1998) and Kansas State led the conference championship game three times (1998, 2000 and 2003). Over the past two years, the K-State program has been signs of slipping. In 2004, they lost their first bowl game since 1992 and last Saturday won its second consecutive losing season. Many attribute this string of losing a great talent as an assistant coach. Snyder, who grew up under the tutelage of legendary coach Hayden Fry at Iowa, has overseen the development of several fine college head coach. Bob stoops (Oklahoma), Mike bends (Arizona), Jim Leavitt (South Florida), Phil Bennett (SMEs), Brett Bielema (Wisconsin 2006), and Mark Mangin (Kansas), are just some of the coaches that have been cut Snyder teeth in the State of Kansas. Others attribute the slip to a loss of talent. But whatever the motivation is not a fan of K-State is prepared to doubt that Snyder could back.So you may ask what is the next state of Kansas. The answer is unclear, but the voice is whirling windmill. The current hot spot is that the former KSU player / assistant Brent Venables left his post of defensive coordinator at Oklahoma and then left for the program in 1998. Venables would be the right man for the job, there was the beginning of the construction project as Lineback KSU in 1991-92. This can be a perfect one for both parties. Kansas State is, of course, need some 'direction, considering they lost the only coach who has had success with. Therefore, it is better than a former player and coach of the Snyder era to come back and retu as coach. Venables has been around in Manhattan, knows the program and pride in maintaining the tradition that was part of creation. In just 34 years, which is probably the type of injection of youth that the program needs. Moreover, unless the plans for Bob stoops on NFL, Venables never a shot in Oklahoma. I? I am sure that the voices continue to swirl and perhaps Venables won? Do not take charge, but the new coach should be someone who knows the program. Kansas State is not too far from the tradition that Bill Snyder established.Legendary Oklahoma coach Barry Switzer once said? Bill Snyder ISN? Not the coach of the year, ISN? T The coach of the decade. Him? S coach of the century?. Is this possible? Even what he did call the reconstruction of Snyder, is a building. Snyder put Kansas State on the map, is and will always be the face of Kansas State football. Changed the program a laughing stock of a feared competitor. But it has done more than change a program, moved to the school. Snyder has a sense of pride and identity of a university in need, including increased enrollment in their time on campus. State of Kansas, Big XII, and the school football community should recognize and appreciate what a accomplished. As Bill Snyder Kansas State graduate and fan, I can not express my gratitude to Bill Snyder at the level it deserves. I? I am pretty confident Powercat of the nation when I say that I will miss Bill Snyder and coach and has been truly amazing person. This type of coach that can never be replaced. Snyder all hope, and we can only hope that the wild can send a note to win Saturday. E 'a potential Hall of Fame, and will always be remembered as the engineer of the highest tuover in college football and maybe in all sports. Snyder deserves every po 'di lode, which will be sent in its own way in the coming days.Mike Archiopoli is a Kansas State graduate who has traveled to Phoenix, Arizona to attend the school of law in the State of Arizona. He grew up in Phoenix but moved to the Midwest as a teenager and was amazed by the passion and enthusiasm with which the 12 major football game. Archiopoli was a huge KSU fan, since then, but looking at every major game 12th His favorite sport is to watch the football school, but can comment on almost any sport (pro or in college), sports curiosity is his specialty.
